We Research and Identify Funding Opportunities

The grant writing process begins with researching and identifying potential funders. It is critical to research all funding opportunities to find the most suitable opportunities to submit. We access subscription-based databases and pore over lists of thousands of possible grants. Then, we develop a list of strong matches with grant-makers and your organization. This report can stand alone for your own in-house use, or as a jumping off point for us to assist with grant writing.

We Help You Tell Your Story

Following the research stage, we begin writing and editing. In this stage, you must thoroughly review the funder's application and requirements so that you have all the necessary responses, attachments, and materials to complete the application. Now you must “tell the story”. You need to compel the reader, the board, and the program manager, to fund your mission over all others. This means you must catch their attention, concisely explain your goals and objectives, and demonstrate your previous success while reviewing your upcoming plans.

Our Process

Client relationships often begin with a free consultation call to determine grant readiness and discuss goals and needs.

If we do work together to write a grant, here's our process:

  • Assess

We first briefly review your existing materials, talk with key staff, and review your goals and application interests. You review our contract, and if both sides agree that we are a good fit, we sign the contract, and we proceed with the research and writing process.

  • Research

Once the contract is signed, we conduct any necessary research to gather materials. This might include collecting data on the target population, the intervention, finding the best funding opportunities that match your organization, and more.

  • Write

Working closely with your team or a designated point of contract, we write the grant application to fit the funder's requirements.

  • Review

Again, working closely with your team or designated point of contact, we review and finalize the grant, making sure its information is accurate and current.

  • Submit

We can help with the submission process, though often we encourage clients to submit grants themselves so that they are the final point in the chain of submission.

Our Fee Structure

  • Flat fee per project  prices are standard and may vary based on complexity of the proposal, the amount of information in place, and the length of time we have to complete the assignment.
  • 50% deposit - a 50% deposit is required to start work, with the other half due prior to release of the final work product.

Proposal Editing: $2,000

  • Already have a proposal written? Congratulations! We can help you put the finishing touches on a strong proposal package. We will assist you in editing and critiquing your grant application to help ensure it meets all of the potential funder's guidelines.

Develop, Draft, and Edit Proposal: $3,000

  • Our standard fee to develop, draft and edit a proposal for submission to foundations or corporations is $3,000.
  • Some clients who come to us have identified donors already willing to support their organization but request that a professionally prepared proposal tailored to the donor's application criteria be supplied for board review. In such case, there is no need to engage in extensive prospect research.
  • Fee covers writing up to three proposals.

Identify Funding Sources + Develop, Draft and Edit Proposal: $5,000.

  • Some clients require assistance to develop and conduct substantive research, in addition to drafting and editing the grant proposal.
  • For our clients who also request that we conduct prospect research to target foundation or corporate donors most likely to support the nonprofit organization, the standard price is $5,000.
  • Fee covers identifying up to three target donors and writing three proposals.

FAQs

  • Why should I use LLS as my grant writing partner?

LaBarbera Learning Solutions has many years of experience writing grant requests and also as grantmakers. We fully understand both sides of the equation and how to write winning proposals that grantmakers want to see.

  • What value added service does LLS offer?

We don't stop at writing a grant request for you. We advocate in public spaces for your cause by writing blogs, posting on social media, publishing peer-reviewed articles, speaking at conferences, and more to support your social impact cause. We get the word out about what you're doing to impact the community. It is our mission to help you advance yours.

  • Why does grant proposal writing cost so much?

In most instances, clients require assistance to develop and conduct substantive research to target donors most likely to support the nonprofit organization. It takes a great deal of time to read through foundation materials to see if they're a match for your organization. For your investment in grant writing services, you are also getting high quality content that you can repurpose in a number of ways, such as on your website and social media, or for future grant requests.

  • How many grant requests do you write for the standard fee?

Our standard fee to research and write a proposal for submission to multiple foundations is $5,000. Once we spend hours combing through the databases we subscribe to to find the perfect match for your funding needs, we can identify two or three target donors. We then tailor the wording in our grant requests to match their particular criteria to provide up to three documents for submission to the target donors.

  • How much can I expect to earn from a single grant?

The amount of a grant award can vary. Grants range from $5,000 to $500,000 and sometimes more. Foundation grants are generally under $100K, with the average amount closer to $20K. Government grants have the potential for higher funding, but they are also much more complex (and more costly to write and manage).

It's our mission to help you advance yours.

We’re driven by your success.
